Workflow for Regulus I



- Camera calibration in Blender using blam [link]
- Constructed 3D environment, array modifier helps for creating repeating structures
- Rendered the new GPU based Cycles Renderer
- Photo editing in Gimp, cut out characters using Scissor Tool and Layer Masks
- Retouching using Wavelet decompose [link]
- Colours modified using the Curves tool

ahh well, this was my first time trying it, it didn't take that long i guess, a couple of hours. was a pretty simple environment, next time i'll probably sketch a concept before i build it so i know what i'm making rather than just making it up as i go =)

ooo, thought the background was already created beforehand...

I know there's a few other programs like blender out there that do the same thing if not probably more but any reason why blender? i was thinking of giving it a try myself but wasn't sure where to start but i did take a look at the site as well as several others but couldnt really distinguish the difference between the programs

shot 3 i used a different process, that background was reconstructed from elements of photos i took awhile back in an abandoned warehouse
